How to Create a Guest Wi-Fi QR Code

Use the correct network name, password and security setting, then test the QR code before displaying it to visitors.

Confirm the network details

Check the SSID, password and security type with your router or network administrator. Spaces and letter case in the network name must match.

Choose the Wi-Fi tool

Enter the network name, select WPA, WEP or open network as appropriate, and enter the password. Special characters are escaped by the generator.

Test actual device behavior

Use a compatible camera or network scanner. Some apps only show the encoded details rather than connect automatically. Test before posting the code.

Protect your network

A Wi-Fi QR image can be read and forwarded. Use a guest network when appropriate. If the password changes, regenerate and download a new static code.
