QR Code Printing Guide: Size, Margins and Colors

Check size, contrast, clear margins, logo coverage and real-world scanning before printing posters, cards or packaging.

Keep a clear margin

Leave at least four modules of clear space around the QR symbol. Do not cover the finder patterns or place the code on a busy background. Required size depends on content density and scanning conditions.

Use dark modules on a light background

Keep strong contrast. Reversed colors, transparent backgrounds over photos and similar foreground/background colors can reduce readability.

Add logos carefully

A logo uses some error-correction capacity. The generator limits logo coverage, but no design is guaranteed to scan on every device.

Download and test at the final size

SVG is useful for print layouts; PNG works for screen and image workflows. Print a sample at the final size and test with several phones, distances and lighting conditions.
